ESTER presented papers at three conferences in the last two months:
At the EAA in Athens we joined the Coalition for Archaeological Synthesis session „Collaborative Synthesis to address major research questions with broad relevance“ and made the point that we need to deliver pizza and not pantries to people outside archaeology: If we want others to reuse our research, it is not helpful to only give them the raw data, the ingredients for it, but to share methods, uncertainties and results in a way that is actually useful to them.
Our bias matrix was the topic of talks at the Joint Chapter Meeting of the CAA Germany, Flanders and Netherlands as well as at the German Theories in Archaeology Workshop in September. This was a great mix of conferences for us, because the one audience was focused on and interested in the technical aspects, the statistics of the model and such, whereas the second group looked at theoretical topics, which parameters we consider useful and what these actually can or cannot say.
We are happy to say that at each conference we met and engaged with new people, with which we are still in contact for follow up zoom meetings and further discussions. This is amazing and we are grateful to everyone for their helpful ideas and questions!
